The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Assistant Commandant selection process is a rigorous multi-stage examination designed to identify and recruit highly qualified individuals. Here’s a breakdown of the five stages:
Stage I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT)
- Computer-based online test: 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

- Marking scheme: +4 for correct answers, -1 for incorrect answers
- Qualifying nature: Candidates must clear this stage to proceed.
Stage II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)

- Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT): Candidates discuss pictures in English, Hindi, or both

Stage III: Final Selection Board (FSB)
