Responsibilities:

  • Database Management: Manage and maintain multi-master MySQL/Galera clusters across different locations.
  • Performance and Security: Ensure databases perform well and are secure.
  • Database Procedures: Handle tasks like upgrades, backups, recoveries, and migrations.
  • Infrastructure Management: Manage infrastructure components outside of the database systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and fix issues related to hardware, software, applications, and networks.
  • Collaboration: Work with team members and other stakeholders.
  • On-Call Duties: Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Linux Expertise: Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • MySQL Mastery: In-depth knowledge of MySQL database management, including large-scale clusters and large databases.
  • Database Understanding: Understanding of MySQL storage engines, replication, and best practices.
  • Resource Management: Ability to plan and manage database resources effectively.
  • Troubleshooting: Experience in troubleshooting complex database issues.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with teams.
  • Mentorship: Willingness to mentor and guide junior engineers.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Other Databases: Familiarity with other SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Version Control: Proficiency in Git.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
