About DRDO GTRE
Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) is a laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), situated in Bengaluru. Its primary focus lies in the research and development of aero-gas turbines for military aircraft. Additionally, GTRE has also ventured into the development of marine gas turbines as a spin-off effect. Initially established as the Gas Turbine Research Centre (GTRC) in 1959 at No. 4 BRD Air Force Station, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, it was later brought under DRDO in November 1961. Subsequently, it was renamed GTRE and relocated to Bengaluru, Karnataka.
